Upon completion of this Module, you will be able to:
- Explain the meaning of intellectual property and define the basic concepts of intellectual property law;
- Evaluate and determine which type of intellectual property right applies to a given situation or output;
- Explain why only expressions are protected by law, and ideas, facts and data are not;
- Outline the purpose, scope and application of copyright law and patent law; and
- Critically analyse how and why your own creations will be subject to IP law and evaluate the implications of IP law within professional practice and specialised technical and creative contexts.
